Ribbit!

Well, since I can't really do any stamping I thought I would share a pic of my new toes. I went for a wonderfully relaxing pedicure at Jentle Hands in Stony Plain. Jen is the BEST! ( www.jentlehands.ca ) Anyway, I wanted a really bright and cheery colour so I chose this great pink (forgot to look at the name of it) and then she added these adorable little frogs. Reminds me of Unfrogettable. I am hoping to do a little stamping tomorrow. If I spread it out over the day I should be able to get a card done. Got some great layouts from Taylored Expressions that I am anxious to try.

Crunch!

Sorry that I haven't posted in a few days. I was in a car accident on Tuesday afternoon so I have been a little preoccupied. (A truck going the opposite direction pulled out to turn left just as I was going through the intersection.) The kids and I are ok. I have a sore seck, chest and back and will take some time to recover but thankfully the kids are all good. Jenna has a pretty good seatbelt mark but other than that there are no signs of injury. My van is a write-off so I will be getting a new vehicle. Anyway, it's hard to look down so I don't know that I will be doing much stamping or scrapbooking in the next while which is a major bummer cuz I was on a roll there for a while. I may just dig out some old pics to post.

Liking the Layout

I really like this layout. It's the same as the card below (from the DTGT challenge). I actually made this one first but decided to post the other one yesterday. Now that I look at it I think I may add some ribbon to the In Colour one. Thoughts?

BTW, these are square cards that measure 5 1/4 inches. They fit in the SU square envelopes. Colours: Real Red, Old Olive, River Rock, and Very Vanilla. DSP is Dashing. Stamps: Deer Friends and Warm Words. Used the horizontal slot punch to feed the ribbon through. Hope you have a great day.

New Colours

I am really starting to like the new "in colours" from Stampin' Up. Nothing will ever replace Wasabi but I will get over that eventually. I made this card based on a layout I saw on Dawn Easton's blog (Treasure Oiler). It was for a DTGT challenge on SCS. Anyway, I used some new SU DSP from a level 3 hostess set and the stamp set "Simply Said" which I love. I was going to colour some ribbon but then I decided I liked it the way it was. The middle part is on dimensionals. Colours: Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze.

Getting Organized

As we prepare to sell the house (still deciding when to list) I have been doing lots of cleaning and organizing. One thing that needed to be organized was all my small embellishments. I thought that this would be perfect. DH has one for nuts, bolts, nails, etc. and every time I see it I think, "I could use one of those!" So, on our way home from Costco yesterday we stopped by Canadian Tire and picked this one up. I used my large oval punch to punch cardstock the same colour as the buttons, brads, and eyelets in each drawer. I still may label them with the actual colour and put them in alphabetical order. (I can be a little anal that way...my spice rack is alphabetized, too.) The larger drawers have some metal edged tags, linen thread, cutting blades, non su-eyelets, ink cartidges, and other assorted odds and ends. I think I will be much more inclined to use these now that they are organized, accessible, and where I can see them. I have also started to re-organized some cardstock and designer paper. I have a great system for 8 1/2 x 11 but not so much for 12 x 12 so I am working on that now. I may have a project to post later, depending on how the organizing goes and how much I can get done as Parker is now sick with the same fever Jenna had a few days ago.

Woohoo!

I got a new camera! Went to Costco today expecting it to be a zoo but it was totally dead. I guess with the Indy race, Capital Ex, and other events going on no one wants to shop. Anyway, I am so excited about my new camera! It's pink (Jenna helped me pick it out!) and has so many cool settings. The pic just above is a layout shot where I can take 3 pics and it puts them into one. There is another setting for a 2 pic layout. How cool is that? Plus cameras have come waaay down in price since the fall so I made a few other purchases that I consider *free*! Here are my latest layouts from the Jasper trip. I just love the pages of the kids' pics. Simply scrappin' kits are simply the best!

Simply Cute

This card was made using the new Simply Sent card elements kit coming out in the new Fall~Winter Idea Book & Catalogue. It's a great little kit that makes 9 cards - 3 each of 3 designs...instructions included Everything you need is also included: cardstock, paper, buttons, brads, ribbon, die cut stickers. The only thing you need is a cutter and adhesive. There will also be a coordinating stamp set but for now I used the new Heard From the Heart set that I totally love. I have done a couple more scrapbook pages of our Jasper trip but can't seem to get good pics. I will try again tomorrow. I also need to get a new camera, or exhange current one, as a little piece of plastic that keeps the battery in broke off the other day. It still works ok but it's a pain and I just bought it last Halloween. Anyway, enough rambling for tonight. I need to get to bed. It was 31 degrees (Celsius for any Americans who may be reading this...that is about 88 F) and I took the kids to the outdoor pool this afternoon. Swimming always poops me out.

Pool Fun

Couldn't resist posting this pic of the kids today in the pool. Such a couple of cuties!
Parker is 8 1/2 going into grade 4
Jenna is 6 going into grade 1

New Park!

Today after Parker's drama camp we stopped at the new playground at Rotary Park a.k.a. the duck pond which no longer has ducks but we still call it the duck pond anyway. Took this pic with my handy dandy Blackberry. The kids had fun checking out the new equipement. The park base is recycled tires...no sand. Did some work on another Jasper page so hopefully I will have something to show you later tonight or tomorrow.
Well, as it turns out I did get the page done yesterday. After my last post I realized that Colin was asleep on the couch and the kids were watching a video so I decided to make the most of it and get it done. I am pleased with the results. I have only ever used chipboard once on a scrapbook page but I have lots of it so I decided to try it out. I used my brayer to colour the letters and used designer paper behind them as an accent. The colours are: Wild Wasabi, Tempting Turquoise and Apricot Appeal. (Who ever would have thought that these 3 would look nice together?) I hope to get a couple more pages done for this album today between getting some ironing done and tidying up the house so it's ready for our real estate agent to check out tomorrow. We hope to have the house listed soon even though it will be a good 8 months before our new house is ready. Have a great day!

Xmas in July

When I was a teenager we celebrated Christmas in July with our neighbors. We exchanged small gifts and enjoyed a turkey dinner in the middle of summer. Yum! Today was cold and rainy...a great day to cook a turkey. (But I didn't actually cook one!) I had hoped to get some scrapbooking done but I had other things to do and when I finally did get downstairs I had a major creativity block. The page is started but not finished. Maybe tomorrow. So, in the mean time I thought I would share another new stamp set (Deer Friends) and new colour (Riding Hood Red) with the retiring Wild Wasabi. They look so great together. I will miss Wasabi.

Puppy Love

Well, I didn't get much stamping or scrapping done today. Between laudry, groceries, drama camp, and a sick little girl there wasn't much time. But, I did manage to sneak downstairs for a few minutes and make this card. Isn't this puppy the cutest? This is from the "For Father" set...bought it awhile back and it's been sitting on my shelf just waiting to be used. The patterned paper is from a big pack that I bought at Costco. Toally did not need it but of course who can resist a Costco deal? Anyway, I thought it would make a good masculine card. I also used my aqua painter for the first time to colour the puppy. Still need some practice with that. Cardstock is bordering blue, stamped the image on very vanilla, scraped edges with chocolate chip and used some pastels as well. It was hot today but they say rain for tomorrow so maybe after some more laundry I will get on those Japer pics!

Time to Retire

The retiring accessories list is out...and some are even discounted! The list is huge and way to big to post so if you don't have a copy send me an email or leave a comment and I will email you one. I am placing an order tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7pm so don't wait too long! Free shipping on all orders over $25! I hope to post some cards later today. I may just go and do some stamping right now as the kids are both still asleep (yay for kids who sleep in!) And I will be happier in the basement where I cannot hear the magpies. Man are those the most annoying creatures in the entire world, or what? Sure hope we don't have any at the acreage.

Along with the zebra card below we made these 2 cards at today's workshop. I just love the exclamation point made with the "Pick a Petal" set. Too cute! I saw another great card using this set to make a dragonfly so I will try that one soon. The other card uses the butterfly from the hostess set "Time Well Spent". The middle butterfly is cut out and attached with a mini glue dot but there is still one stamped and coloured behind it.

I hope to do some stamping or scarpbooking tomorrow. Our trip to Jasper and Valemount (from last summer!) still needs to be scrapped so I really should get on that.

This is one of my favorite cards I have made. I love this stamp set (Summer By the Sea) and just get such a sense of calm from this card. I used the Coluzzle to make an oval mask and stamped the image inside. I used the SU pastels to colour it all. The card is Night of Navy as well as the word "cherish" from the set Warm Words. The edges are roughed using the cutter kit. Well, I am off to a workshop today so I better go and make sure I have everything. I always seem to forget something...even after doing this for 2 years. Enjoy your Sunday.

And don't forget...the retiring accessories list comes out tomorrow so check back then to see what will be going, going, gone.

Zoofari Fun!

I just love the Zoofari set from Stampin' Up! This card was inspired by Angie at Chic n' Scratch. Check out her blog...it's the best! (She even has a video tutorial on how to make this card.) Anyway, this card uses a 1 1/4" punch to make the window. You can stamp pretty much any image on the inside and use any colour cardstock. Celebrate was embossed and I just used a white gel pen to doodle around the window. Finish it off with a little black & white gingham ribbon and viola! This will be a great card for a stamp-a-stack. I am planning to host one in August so stay tuned for details.

Seeing Stars

We made this card at a workshop I hosted this week. The idea for this card came from lisbingham on SCS. It's so simple but so cute. And, of course, we all love the pink and brown! Colours: Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, Stamps: Heard From the Heart (new!), Ink: Whisper White craft, Accessories: Star punches, Pretty in Pink DSP.
