Simply Buttons

In the spirit of trying to use up some of my many many accessories, I cased this card from the SU catalogue.  Quick and simple but cute.
We got back a couple days ago from a trip to SanFrancisco.  Quite an interesting place!  We had a really nice time and had great weather.  Now it's back to reality and back to school in only 3 more sleeps.  Once school starts I will have a much more regular schedule at the gym which will be great...to many 12+ hour days there this summer!  And I hope to get back up to my studio a little more often.

Three Cheers for Friday!

I made this card last week.  The flowers are from a Mother's Day set that was in a mini catalogue this year.  I used up some DSP in Perfect Plum.  The ribbon is black.  Coloured with Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, and Regal Rose.
Today is Friday and I am so happy!  I work some pretty long days at the gym and by Friday I am so tired.  Lots to do this weekend though, as we leave on Tuesday for a week in SanFrancisco!  We've never been and are all excited to go!
This video is of my 8 year old daughter, Jenna, at our gym.  She is stunting with Mitchel, one of our coaches and a member of the the Edmonton Eskimos Cheer Team.  The team trains at my gym and I work as the promotions coordinator for the team.  My partner at the gym coaches the team.  The guys at the gym are all so awesome to the younger kids.  This was Jenn's first day trying this particular skill...pretty good for an 8 year old!  :)  If you live in the Edmonton area and you are interested in more information on my gym visit www.perfectstormathletics.com!

I Scream, You Scream!

This is such a fun stamp set!  I used the masking technique to put the bottom scoop on - stamped the top one first, then placed the mask over top and stamped the bottom.  I really like how the top one turned out and I love the colours.  Not my usual colours - Apricot Appeal and Pumpkin Pie but they look great with the Chocolate Chip!
The title of this post reminded me of a funny cartoon I saw several years ago.  Instead of an ice cream truck there was a pic of an asparagus truck with the phrase: I cuss, you cuss, we all cuss for asparagus!  The caption: Failed marketing ploys.  Makes me giggle every time I think of asparagus!

Baby Bundle

This set has been sitting unmounted for quite some time but a friend of mine had a baby boy on Friday so I was inspired to mount and use it.  I am trying to use up some of my retired DSP as well as buttons and brads.  I seem to hoard them for some reason!  But no more!  Every card must have a brad or button on it for the next 6 months and then I might be close to using half of them up!  LOL!  The colour is Bermuda Bay with Chocolate Chip.

Cute as a Bug

I made these a few months back and this set is now retired but I still love this stamp!  Makes such a cute baby card.  I just placed a new stamping order and got some stuff from the new Holiday mini!  It's got some great stuff in it!  It starts September 1.  I hope to get up to my studio in the next day or so to play...maybe tomorrow since it sounds like it's going to rain.

Where Have I Been?

It's been so long since I last posted...I can hardly believe how much time has gone by!  I have been so busy with the new gym that I have literally not had a second to think about anything else until recently.  The gym is going really well and is so much fun and now that we have almost a month of operation under our belt I feel like I can breathe again.  It's sad that summer is half over but I am looking forward to a holiday in a couple of weeks and to doing some stamping and scrapbooking again!  My studio is pretty much a disaster zone...last room in the house to get a major overhaul.  That is next weekend's job.  The cards I am posting today are a simple and fun layout that I love.  And this stamp set is just so cute.  This is my favorite one form the set "A Flower for All Seasons".  I have some new sets that need to be mounted and are calling for some ink!  Can't wait to use them and get back into this awesome hobby!

New Colours!

So exciting!  Stampin' Up announced this week that several colours will be retiring and some of our favourite "in colours" will become regular SU colours.  While I will miss a few of the oldies I am looking forward to the change.

Creating the Perfect Storm

It's been a loooong time since my last post and I have lots of good reasons.  The best is because of my amazing new venture.  I am starting an all-star cheerleading gym in Edmonton.  Along with cheer we will have tumbling, dance and fitness.  Check out our website at www.perfectstormathletics.com!
Our Name
The Perfect Storm is the simultaneous occurrence of specific events which, if taken individually, would be far less powerful than the storm which results from their combination. Rare by their very nature, it is only through the union of all the ideal elements that we create….  The Perfect Storm.

This card uses two products featured in the Sale-a-Bration mini: Whimsical Words and the new border punch.  You can get one for FREE with a $65 order between now and the end of March or spend $130 and get them both...there is no limit!  This card is quick and easy to make.  Cardstock is Melon Mambo and uses the coordinating ribbon and whisper white for the layer.  This stamp set is retired but any heart set could easily be used.

Got Milk?

These little milk cartons are just the cutest!  And they are so easy to make.  (The key is using your bone folder.)  They are made using the milk carton die for the Big Shot.  I love that you can make one with a "card size" piece of cardstock - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".  These ones were made using Ruby Red and some PSD from a prints pack.  Hearts are from the SU punch.  Added a library clip to the top and a tag made with the Modern Label and Word Window punches.

Chalkboard Technique

Can you believe this is the first time I have done the chalkboard technique?!  It's so easy but so pretty.  Using white craft ink stamp your image on black cardstock.  While the ink is still wet use a sponge dauber or Q-tip to add colour with the Stampin' pastels.  Once the ink is dry wipe off excess pastel (chalk) with a tissue or swiffer cloth.  And that's it!  This card is 5x5 and uses the Priceless set as well as the Whimsical Words from Sale-a-bration.  I used the pastel colours Taken with Teal, Lavender Lace and Pink Passion and the teal and lavender cardstock.

Love My Tree

I love SU's decor elements! I had contemplated getting this tree for our room for months and finally did a few weeks ago. I am so glad! I love it! This is the largest one in black. I think I am going to add some red paper or fabric behind the frame to make the word LOVE stand out a little better and to add some colour. I also have decor elements in my kids' rooms and my studio. They are really quite easy to use (some easier than others) and look so fantastic. If you have been thinking about getting some but weren't sure...go for it!

Happy New Year!

Wow, another year has come and gone. With a new year I thought it was time for a new layout. I have been searching and playing and FINALLY found this one. I love it! I love snowmen and for the most part winter is cool (no pun intended). Living in Alberta I have to put up with lots of cold and snow so this background is perfect. I am hoping to get back to some more regular posts this year. Things get so hectic that I rarely have time but I am hoping this year to MAKE time. I am planning to go down to part time with my regular job and there are some exciting opportunities for me on the horizon...only time will tell what I end up deciding to do. Anyway, I wish you all good health and much happiness in 2010. This picture was taken a couple days ago on my back deck. This is our beautiful view! We look onto a pond and a horse ranch is on the other side of the trees across the lake. I absolutely love it when it's all frosty like this.
