Three Cheers for Friday!

I made this card last week.  The flowers are from a Mother's Day set that was in a mini catalogue this year.  I used up some DSP in Perfect Plum.  The ribbon is black.  Coloured with Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, and Regal Rose.
Today is Friday and I am so happy!  I work some pretty long days at the gym and by Friday I am so tired.  Lots to do this weekend though, as we leave on Tuesday for a week in SanFrancisco!  We've never been and are all excited to go!

This video is of my 8 year old daughter, Jenna, at our gym.  She is stunting with Mitchel, one of our coaches and a member of the the Edmonton Eskimos Cheer Team.  The team trains at my gym and I work as the promotions coordinator for the team.  My partner at the gym coaches the team.  The guys at the gym are all so awesome to the younger kids.  This was Jenn's first day trying this particular skill...pretty good for an 8 year old!  :)  If you live in the Edmonton area and you are interested in more information on my gym visit www.perfectstormathletics.com!

Where Have I Been?

It's been so long since I last posted...I can hardly believe how much time has gone by!  I have been so busy with the new gym that I have literally not had a second to think about anything else until recently.  The gym is going really well and is so much fun and now that we have almost a month of operation under our belt I feel like I can breathe again.  It's sad that summer is half over but I am looking forward to a holiday in a couple of weeks and to doing some stamping and scrapbooking again!  My studio is pretty much a disaster zone...last room in the house to get a major overhaul.  That is next weekend's job.  The cards I am posting today are a simple and fun layout that I love.  And this stamp set is just so cute.  This is my favorite one form the set "A Flower for All Seasons".  I have some new sets that need to be mounted and are calling for some ink!  Can't wait to use them and get back into this awesome hobby!

This card uses two products featured in the Sale-a-Bration mini: Whimsical Words and the new border punch.  You can get one for FREE with a $65 order between now and the end of March or spend $130 and get them both...there is no limit!  This card is quick and easy to make.  Cardstock is Melon Mambo and uses the coordinating ribbon and whisper white for the layer.  This stamp set is retired but any heart set could easily be used.  

Chalkboard Technique

Can you believe this is the first time I have done the chalkboard technique?!  It's so easy but so pretty.  Using white craft ink stamp your image on black cardstock.  While the ink is still wet use a sponge dauber or Q-tip to add colour with the Stampin' pastels.  Once the ink is dry wipe off excess pastel (chalk) with a tissue or swiffer cloth.  And that's it!  This card is 5x5 and uses the Priceless set as well as the Whimsical Words from Sale-a-bration.  I used the pastel colours Taken with Teal, Lavender Lace and Pink Passion and the teal and lavender cardstock.

Just another DSP card! This one uses Baja Breeze and the Priceless stamp set. Been so busy this week driving Parker to and from golf camp and working on wedding invitations. I hope to do some stamping this weekend and get back on track. Happy Friday!

Top Note Layer

This is the first card I have made using only a portion of the top note die. I found this in my scrap bin and must have misaligned the die when I cut it as a small part of it was missing. So, I cut it a little more and used it as a layer on this card. The stamp set is a retired level 2 hostess

set called Echoes of Kindness. Also uses Soft Sky designer paper & double stitched ribbon along with a small piece of sheer ribbon that I just cannot think of the name of and I am too lazy to go upstairs and check! It, too, is retired. :)

I have a lot on the go today. I have some ladies coming over to work on some cool explosion boxes for an upcoming reunion plus I have wedding invitations to print and put together for some friends. (Laundry...what's that?!) I will show you both in the coming days.

Baja?

Another card using up some DSP! This uses the Baja Breeze paper and the Priceless stamp set. The butterfly is stamped in Pink Pirouette, cut out and mounted on dimensionals. It's hard to see in the picture but the antennae and body of the butterfly are in dazzling diamonds. I also used the eyelet border punch on the DSP strip on the left.
Funny story: When I was making this card my 7 year old daughter asked what colour I was using. "Baja Breeze," I replied. "Pffft!" she said. "Baja isn't even a word!"

SAS Spoiler

We will {likely} be making this card at my upcoming birthday stamp-a-stack on July 31. I say likely because I could change my mind at any time! I got the idea from Splitcoaststampers but made a few little changes. This is the first time I have done the "rock and roll" technique. It is so easy and I think my stampers will like it. To do it just ink up your stamp in one colour and then rock and roll the edges in a darker colour. The results are awesome. Just be sure to stamp with the lighter colour first so you do not ruin your ink pads!

The stamp set is Priceless (along with the "wish big" from Short & Sweet). Colours are Pretty in Pink, Lovely Lavender, and Certainly Celery. I used Dazzling Diamonds in the centre of each lavender flower and used the piercing tool to create the butterfly's flight pattern. I would like to try this card in a couple different colour combinations.

Jenna's Card

This is my seven year old daughter Jenna's version of my card from yesterday. Isn't it gorgeous? I love the colours and how the pink and blue mixed to make purple. It uses Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay with Garden Green for the stem & leaves. She is very proud of her card and was so excited to hear I was going to put it on my blog. "But you're going to say that I made it, right?" was her first reaction! Gotta love kids!

Cards made using the Big Shot. Layered the flowers, added rhinestone brads. Used a textruz plate for the celery layer. They turned out ok but are missing something. Not my favorite cards ever but pretty quick and easy.

What else is there to do on a rainy day besides stamping? Well lots, really, but I chose to spend a couple hours stamping! Made a few ok cards and then it happened...I came across what I thought was a nice card in the new catty to case and WOW did I love the results! I used markers to colour the stamp from "Inspired by Nature". After markering all the colours on a sprayed a light mist of water right onto the stamp and then stamped the image on naturals cardstock. The look is like watercolour. The pictures do not do them justice. They are so pretty! I love to give cards away that I love so I am excited to give 2 of these to friends who just moved into new hoses, one for my parents' 40th anniversary and one to the company who built our new home.

This card is cased from someone...I think maybe Julie from Paper Pleasing Ideas. Anyway, we are making it at a workshop today. It uses the set Inspired by Nature. I stamped the grass in Old Olive and the sun is made from a 1" circle mask with Summer Sun pastel. The butterfly is from Flight of the Butterfly. I stamped it in Pumpkin Pie and cut it out. It is adhered with a glue dot. The ribbon is also Pumpkin Pie and I used a rhinestone brad from the "fire" collection. The white layer is 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 and the orange layer is 2 3/4 by 3 3/4. Simple but pretty.

First Workshop Card

I held my first workshop in my new studio last weekend and this is one of the cards we made. It was a big hit with everyone. They chose their own designer series paper and made a version of this card. They all turned out fantastic! Cut 12 - 1 1/4" squares out of the DSP of your choice. Flip half the squares over and glue onto some scrap paper (copy paper) that is 3 3/4 by 4 3/4. Line it up so it is centered on the Top Note die for the Big Shot and run it thru. It's that easy!

More Swirls

I just love these swirls from the Priceless set. I did this card up tonight while chatting on the phone! Too easy! Punched the flower with the 1 1/4" circle and added a rhinestone brad. Colours are Basic Black, Whisper White and Tangerine Tango. I think I will do some more like this. I really like it! This would also be nice with the swirls embossed. May have to try that next.

Just Add Swirls

I posted this card a few days ago but without the swirls. I decided the card needed a little something extra so I added these swirls from the Priceless set. I love it now! We made this card at my club workshop today and even brand new stampers could do it no problem. Have you tried a Glitter Window card yet? If not, you should. I have nothing new to post today besides this. Life is just super busy right now between work, coaching, the new house and selling this one. We have had 3 showings in just over a week so I am hopeful that buyers are right around the corner!

Maybe I will take a trip downstairs tonight and do some stamping. I am too busy to see many movies (other than with the kids now & again) so the Oscars don't mean much to me. I will just watch entertainment shows tomorrow to check out the red carpet fashions! Have a great night.

Layout Case

I cased this layout from the Spring~Summer 2009 catalogue. It is on page 170 (Canadian) as part of the simply sent card kits. I just changed up the colours and the stamp set. The ribbon is a little different, too, as this was too wide to go vertical. Colours: Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, Rose Red. The right edge of the tangerine piece is worn and slightly curled up. I stamped the butterfly outline on Pacific Pt with the same colour ink (not Versamark). The butterfly is stamped in Tango with Rose Red outline but that is hard to see in the picture. It is subtle IRL (in real life) but the body is all T.Tango. I also scraped the top and bottom of the white layer with T.Tango. The colours are so pretty together and look much better IRL. I don't think I have posted this one before. I just love this set. It's so cute. This was the first card I made with it. Hope you like it.

Priceless

I made this card quite some time ago (before my blogging days). I think it may be in my slide show but I'm sure it's not on here anywhere else so I thought I would feature it today since a) I have nothing newly made to show and b) I want to post something. This was made using the Priceless set. The colours are Soft Sky and Regal Rose. There are several layers which take some time to cut, along with cutting out the butterfly, but in the end it's worth it! The butterfly is stamped on the white layer in Regal Rose and then just the wings were cut out of another piece and stuck on. This gives it a neat look and eliminates the need to cut out the antennae.

Today was my cheer team's last practice before our first competition. Yikes! The kids were so wired...it was hard to keep them under control. (They are 6-8 years old!) Hopefully they will be relaxed next week and everything will go according to plan. I made this card tonight and it was inspired by our uniforms! Not sure what I will do with this card yet...maybe make enough for the whole team.

Let's celebrate with a drink! Well, how about a stamped drink? I was so excited when this set came out. I bought it right away and mounted it and then it just sat on my shelf. My goal today was to use some of my new sets. We will be making these cards at my next club workshop. I just used the large scalloped circle die for the Big Shot with a folded card just showing about 3 scallops. Then I used a piece of DSP with the smaller scallop die (it has 2 sizes on it). The drinks are stamped and then punched with the scallop punch. I used the small scallop as a seal on the envelope. Both drinks have some dazzling diamonds thay may be difficult to see in the pics. These fit just perfectly into a regular envelope and work for all kinds of occasions. Woohoo! Hope you enjoy the first day of 2009!

Just Playing

Today I decided to just "play" with some of my stuff. I have a workshop on Sunday to prep for but I just didn't feel like doing that. The first thing I made was the scallop card. It's super easy. Just fold a piece of cardstock and place the fold just inside of the scallop die for the BigShot. I left 3 scallops showing. Run it through and viola! A scallop card! The paper is some Barbie scrapbooking paper that just happened to be on the top of a pile (I have many!) and I used the hearts from Someone New To Love. My second project was to use the Create a Calendar set I got a couple months ago. I saw this idea on Jill's Card Creations blog and thought it was awesome. Wish I had done this before Christmas; these would have made great gifts! Maybe next year. I just used a clipboard from a stationery store and covered it with some DSP. Then I added some peices from the kit and some ribbon. It turned out great! I also plan to stamp the bottom corner of each month's page with a coordinating stamp.
